It’s not our responsibility to meet your violence with peace. But still, we try. We kneel, we march, we sign petitions, we call for justice... You aren’t mad at the way we protest, you’re mad we’re protesting a system you benefit from. You’re scared that if things change, when you shoot a black person down without reason, you just might receive a consequence.
To my brothers and sisters, I am hurting with you. To my white friends who have spoken up, I hear you. And to my white “friends” who have stayed silent, I hear you too. Because the bottom line is, I don’t want people in my life who can watch humans plead for their life on the ground, and not feel empathy.
